Provo Christmas Bucket List

Guys. December is crazy. There are so many things to do, and yet somehow, I still end up sitting on my butt at home watching Christmas specials on TV. Love me some TV, but there are so many things to do in Utah during the holidays! I have compiled a list of the most exciting things happening in Utah Valley during the month of December. This is in no way an exhaustive list, but I did a lot of curating for you. For more complete calendars of events in Utah Valley, go here here + here + here.

"The Provo Santa Run is part of the Provo Winterfest Activities. Immediately following the Provo Santa Run is the Parade of Lights. The Provo course starts at the Nuskin Building on 200 West and Center Street. The course goes North and loops the block three times until you finish again at NuSkin. NuSkin provides free parking for participants of this race. It is about a 5K but you can cut it short if you would like. Just do not go through the finish line if you do not finish. Do get on the naughty list by cheating."

"Welcome the wonder of the holiday season with this dazzling display of folk dance and music. With a cast of more than 200 talented dancers, singers, and musicians in colorful costumes, your family will experience a journey of discovery of different cultures united by the message of peace on earth and goodwill towards all."

"Galleries in downtown Provo are open late every first Friday night for the Downtown Provo Art Stroll. Held from 6:00-9:00 p.m. on the first Friday of every month, this event is free to the public and often includes refreshments, guest artists and live music. Begin at the Covey Center for the Arts Gallery (425 West Center Street), and receive directions to other downtown venues."

Just do it.

Riverwoods is a pretty magical place during the holidays. It's all lit up like the North Pole, and the stores always make me feel fancy (well, either fancy or poor, depending on the day). There's usually something going on in the square. If not, grab a treat at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and take a walk on the river trail just north of the shops.

"Carriage rides are given every Monday, Friday, and Saturday. Enjoy the season by going 'over the river and through the woods.'"

This is a great activity for the little ones.

"Join the Outlets at Traverse Mountain grand opening November 16, and their tree lighting event. With special guests Eclipse. Festivities will continue on all weekend. Meet Santa and additional performances and giveaways."

"Enjoy an enchanting drive through more than one million twinkling lights. Families and friends can stay cozy and warm inside their cars or bundle up and take the trolley, wagon, or carriage ride through the display of holiday lights at Thanksgiving Point."

"Join us for a magical, round-trip journey to the North Pole. Meet Santa and enjoy caroling, hot cocoa, a treat, and a special gift for each child! It's a wonderful experience for the whole family. Elves serve hot drinks and treats while sharing favorite carols and a Christmas story.  Children's eyes light up when Santa climbs aboard. Reserve your tickets early, seats sell-out fast!"

"No Christmas Season is complete without the hoopla of family dinners, glorious games, magical mistletoe, caroling carolers, firkins of wassail, and Dickens' timeless characters that embody Christmas cheer: Bob Cratchit, Mr. Scrooge, three Christmas ghosts, and of course, Tiny Tim. Whether you have seen it once, fifty times, or never, Hale Center Theater in Orem invites you to be their guests for an evening as you escape all the noise, commercialism, and greed that have invaded this time of year so you can remember what the season is all about."

"Come celebrate this New Year's Eve at the Provo Towne Centre.  Activities include live bands, Big Band Dance, Top 40's Dance, food court, concessions, New Years crafts, professional face painters, laser tag, balloon artists, performers, karaoke, photo booths, entertainment and fireworks."
